Times Tables Practice That Doesn't Feel Like Practice

Students hunt for products on the board by rolling dice and multiplying. They're drilling times tables 6 to 12 the whole time. It just doesn't feel like it.

There's Actually Strategy Involved

It's not just about knowing your times tables. Players have to think about which squares to go for, when to block, and how to plan ahead. The math practice happens on the way.

Works in Any Classroom Setting

2 to 4 players. Good for math centers, partner work, or filling the last 10 minutes of class. Board size adjusts from 6x6 up to 12x12 to match your grade level.

How to Play

  1. Write your names and pick a color for each player
  2. Roll the dice
  3. Pick a side of a number that equals the first die multiplied by the second die. For example: if you roll 3 and 2, you can draw a line beside any 6 square, since 3 x 2 = 6
  4. If you draw the line that creates a square around a number, that number is filled in with your color, and you score a point.
  5. If the number you're looking for isn't available, you have to skip your turn.
  6. Play until there are no options left for any players. Highest score wins!
  7. If you want to play again, reset the game.
